Typically a FoGN infantry base has 8 figures in 2 rows of 4, with 4 bases to a normal unit or 6 bases to a large unit.

As FoGN has no true scale a 'unit' can theoretically be anything from a couple ...

That's definitely my preference too Peter. I think the Saga 2e 'specials' are better than 1e, if still not perfect, but I think the game is much much better and vastly more fun without them.
