Steve, Like a good wine, the best decisions are made slowly and with care. I'm discussing this with Brett in NZ and will give you a response soon. Hopefully your careful tactical planning won't be too disrupted by the delay. Wink

Hi Steve, apologies for the slowness on this one. I'll be emailing something out shortly to players in this weekend's tournament.

What we're proposing to do, rather than getting into even more arcane wording in the wheeling in an assault section (which is already quite complex) is to rather drop in a rule that limits how many units can assault a single enemy unit. This will be limited by how much flank support you have. So a unit with flank support on both flanks can only be assaulted frontally by a single enemy unit, with one flank support can be assaulted by 2 and with no flank support can by assaulted by 3. Large artillery units with an attachment will count as 2 units for this rule.

We'll stress test this on the weekend at the tournament.

Interesting solution. Sounds good on paper. Will be eager to see what it means on the table.

The problem was not multiple units assaulting a single target, but rather a single assaulter attacking a unit which is in side edge contact with a friend(s), from a position which not directly in front of its target.
I don't understand how your proposal solves this issue.

Once again Steve you are right. We've been having some off-line discussions with Alex about a similar but slightly different issue of wheeling/sliding rules which as it is currently written would mean with some clever lining up you could put 2 units into one, even when the one was "safely" sandwiched between 2 other units.

In my head, I've put your query and this one into one problem.

So to resolve your query, I will go with the interpretation of playing it as written. i.e. units cannot assault an enemy unit if it requires such a sharp wheel to avoid another enemy unit in their path that they would have to go past the centre of the unit they are trying to charge.
