I have probably become too transfixed by the possibilities of poses and armour matching. As such, I'm yet to even look at how the models sit on bases. Its a shame that heavy infantry will be indistinguishable from mediums but, for gaming purposes, I can't see how anybody will mind. Likewise with 60mm depth of bases.
Martin, do you have any particular army in mind? I just received a pack of pre-painted Venetian flags in the mail- they look even better in real life! |

I'm thinking the same as to 60mm depth for most infantry
I thought it would look a lot better and give the ability to stagger the figures somewhat
I don't think it will impact on gameplay so why not?

Unfortunately scale-creep with figure manufacturers means that the original concept of a 15mm frontage for a 25mm/28mm figure is rarely achievable without a sardine-can effect on the base. But I do like the idea of basing on 60mm deep, so I can base my Heavies 3 deep and create the right look without emulating my attempts of the past in trying to cram 12 uni students into my mate's mini....

I have ben putting my 25/28mm infantry on 60 x 60 as well with only 6 to a base.
The cavalry is 3 to a base for heavies and 2 to a base for light stuff.
Seems to work ok, although the heavies do look a bit crowded. |

Well 60 x 60 bases seems the way to go, with 6 figures for the heavy foot. I might try and get 12 pikemen on a base. I haven't made up any pikemen yet so I am not sure how they will look. Maybe 9 pikemen for mediocre pike?
The army I am looking to make is Florentine Condotierri.
I like the idea of pushing the lists beyond 1500, the rules do go to 1550AD, and it means I can paint up some of the Warlord landsknechts. Perhaps I will have to look at adapting some of the FoGR lists to ADLG.
Regards

Any objections to imagi-nations, as long as one uses official lists? I have plenty of figures but they are not altogether historical. _________________ _________________

I wouldn't have any worries with that. Hang on...they have human heads, right? |

Assuming human heads, not quite right looking figures should not out pf place as we only have a few suits of armour from the period Nearly all ceremonial) and badly painted portraits to back them up. |

I just found some old GW empire plastics and have been painting them up, glad I won't be the only one with some fantasy figures...i forgot how massive they are next to normal 28s though! |

Whatever happened to this idea? Well, I decided to move to Ballarat and therefore lost most of my time to create armies- that's what. My drive time to Melbourne is about an hour quicker now so it's happy days as far as attendance at meetings is concerned.
Despite all this, I am still creeping ahead with my larger scaled toys. I just received the last purchases I require from Perry miniatures (mounted xbows and superb Condotta generals).
I'm also rebasing my Saljuq Turks for ADLG. These should be ready for games early in the new year. Lots of annoying light horse but let me know if anyone fancies chasing them round the board at a League meeting. |

I have purchased a lot of Perry Plastics. Enough to make a 200 point army. I have even assembled quite a few but have yet to put any paint on them. I am too bust painting other peoples figures . Hope to have some of the Italians done soon.

Jared,
I am always happy to trot out my 28mm figures in anything vaguely historical. Let me know when you are up for a game.
cheers
