While the 2018 League dates are not out, I assume I'll make the meeting on 21 January.
Anyone want to have a practice game of DBA v3? Prefer books III & IV as practice for Cancon if possible.
Can do anytime.

Karsten,
I plan to be there and will definitely bring along some DBA armies for practice before CanCon.
I can bring along some III and IV age armies. But perhaps not the Tibetans - no need to give you practice against my competition army.

Excellent, sounds good Peter.
I have just finished painting the army (just waiting for the watered down PVA mix I've sprayed everything with to lock down the static grass and clump foliage to dry).
I'm only missing the command wagon, a psiloi and artillery elements to cover every possibility in the Indonesian and Malay lists.
Re the command wagon (CWg), the Javanese get one in list IV/37c with the option for the general in a "ceremonial chariot with foot guards". I can't find a reference of Javanese/Malays having a chariot (even though the armies get some mounted), I guess I could model a oxen cart with a general on top.
Edit: Django's recommended an Indian chariot with Malay infantry which is something that's more grand than an oxen cart. |

There are images of stone reliefs from mid-fourteenth century east Java that depict a four horse drawn chariot. The chariot cab is fairly flat, with some standing poles at the side that would support a roof (not shown in the illustration). At the back of the cab is a wooden decorative screen. The combatants were a driver, bow armed hero and a rescued maiden.
Other descriptions from the mid-thirteenth century Mongol invasions described an ox-drawn chariot as a command post (I doubt they were used for much else), so either of your options would be fine.

we'll be there too for games: day 1 (bkI/II) and 2 (bkIII).
wish they hadn't made it fixed 12 elements. don't think it would have slowed game down all that much to choose a few different elements. |

I reckon fixed 12 elements is a better test of a player's ability, and it eliminates those Swiss Army Knife armies that can be chopped and changed depending on what they're facing in that round.
Should I bring the Sea Peoples again? |

It’s more the fixed mounted or dismounted I find interesting.
Damian - will you be at the club in January for games too? |
