I feel the vague stirrings of interest in Bolt Action .

I need a 28mm painting project after painting 15mm Napoleonics

Does anyone ( other than Mark, who is already helping) at the Club play/like it ?

I’ve played a few games of v2, once or twice with my own army (and not with Mark’s extensive collection) of 1944 British Commandos in Italy. In the new year definitely would like to get a few games in.

Awesome .
I'm creating a US Airborne force I think ( a balance of coolness and ease of painting)

How many points are you aiming for?

I have looked and also have 750 points of unpainted EW Fallschirmjäger in my pile to go with the 1000 points of the above.

For those with a Bolt Action army, or putting one together - are we aiming for 750 or 1000 points (or something else) for the (TBC) event in May?

I've had a look at some of the stuff on the net about this and it looks interesting. How many figures are you looking at for the 1000pts you are talking about? It's certainly been a while since I painted 28mm.

Depending on troop quality you would want:

20-40 infantry
0-1 tank
0-1 armoured car
0-1 AT Gun
0-1 HMG team
0-1 Mortar team
0-1 Jeep/Half track/truck

So not a hard painting commitment unless you are doing late war infantry in splinter-camo...

cheers
Mark

Richard - 1000 points by May is sound thinking.

Mark's numbers are about right, infantry max limit can be higher and with officers, FO, medics, etc you're probably going to have closer to 25-30 figures as your minimum.

Steve, have a play around with Army Builder (you'll need to sign up):
http://boltaction.easyarmy.com/PlatoonSelector.aspx

It's a simple way to get into the scale/time period. And there's plenty of ranges out there.

Yeah, I just had a look at a demo game on YouTube which had Alessio Cavatore as umpire/mc, and I am now officially interested.
Oh dear, another "priority" on the painting schedule ..... they are starting to mount up!!
