The only suggestion I would make is to maybe give the bases a dry-brush to lighten them up a bit before you put on any foliage/scatter.
I was a bit lazy with the Saxons, just used plain scatter and I think I really should have made a bit more of an effort! Rolling Eyes

Wow thats looking really good now ! Well done !

If I were to add anything , a very light dry brush of bleached bone on the brown and I prefer a black edge around the bases (with paint or broad texta )

But , looking great

I brown or black edge makes a difference.

Impressed that you stuck with it for 18 months.

I prefer an edging the same as the base (usually burnt umber with a lighter brown highlight), but it's really a personal choice.

Thanks for the kind words guys. It would've been less than 18 months if I stuck with it more Razz

I like the darker earth as it's not overly dominant and it's more representative of actual earth. Also, the red/white combo is quite light so the models aren't getting lost in the bases. If the army as a whole was darker, I probably would lighten the bases.

The edges are a darker brown by the way. It's probably easiest to see on the unit with blue facings.
