Thanks Michael.

I lost to #1 and #2 (so not so bad); I have found an image of Icarus I can make into the flag for one of the generals I'm painting up.

The first game I played I couldn't see any sensible way for my opponent to win without a lucky frontal assault.

The last game we only just got to the point we were about to get stuck in when time was called, despite playing a LOT of turns.

Some of the scenarios may need a tweak to reliably get a result and give everyone a fair chance. Possibly the fixed order of march needs to be altered for some of them, allowing artillery or mounted troops to be in the right place for the historical actions the scenarios are based on.

I know its probably a bit early, but are there any thoughts on what the theme might be for next year?
I have decided that my next painting project will be something for FOGR, so it may as well be appropriate for next years tournament.............and it will take at least that long for me to (maybe) complete an army. Embarassed

Thoughts were eastern (with or without Africa/New World) without musket and determined horse I think.

Not sure if there's a period limit and which of the eastern European armies would be in.

If we are going with this theme then I plan on getting my Samurai (finally) done. I only bought the unpainted lead from Mr Bornstein in 2007!

I'd be more than happy with that - it would be samurai for me too.
And maybe this theme will generate enough samurai armies for the Segoku Jidai campaign to get a new breath of life.
It has been languishing in limbo on the forum for so long.....

Seeing as I am in possession of two apparently useless eastern armies (Malay and Circassian) I am well set up for an Eastern theme. Smile

I am quite happy with an Eastern theme, I would probably include more Western armies such as Ottomans Russians and Tatars.

I am not certain about whether to include Armies from Cities of Gold or a date requirement

I quickly looked at the assorted lists, and some can be quite musket heavy such as Buccanners, Colonial English.Dutch and French.

I will take advice on this based on likely players' opinions.

Cheers

Happy to keep it to Eastern and Eastern Europe. I don't think we need a period restriction - maybe just a call on what to include from 'Clash of Empires' and include them with everything from 'Colonies and Conquest'.

If someone really wants an African or New World list, they can state their interest in doing so, but I prefer a tighter theme.
