Hey All,

Ben Evans and myself are collaborating on a game for Little Wars and Django's scenario tournament in June. We've been furiously painting miniatures, writing and rewriting the scenario, and building terrain.

A quick summary of the situation is this:

An American airborne platoon is pinned down by heavy mortar fire and under attack from unknown numbers of what they believe to be main force North Vietnamese troops. A nearby Australian Quick Reaction Force is responding with two infantry platoons mounted in M113 APCs, two Centurion tanks, Artillery support, and a pair of the Australian's own scratch-built "Bushranger" gunship helicopters. The Australians will have to move fast if they're going to break through to their pinned down allies... But the NVA must push hard with their attack while they still have time...

We've got something approaching playable now. The terrain is most of the way there, the troops are about 75% painted and progressing rapidly, and the scenario itself feels balanced and, most importantly, fun. It's all on track to be ready for Little Wars.

We'd like to bring it down to the League for people to try out at the next meeting. We need two players, one for the evil imperialist aggressors and one for the evil communist terrorists. Ben and I shall act as umpires, explain the scenario and the rules, and take any feedback from players on what needs to be tweaked for the final version at Little Wars. The game should take about two and a half hours; one of the things Ben and I want to play test with others is how quickly players get a result. So we'd like a pair of players for the morning, and another pair for after lunch. Basic knowledge of the Flames of War rules would be helpful, but isn't absolutely necessary. You don't need to know anything about the new Vietnam rules for Flames of War; we're only using some of those, and we expect to walk people through them as they go.

Sign up now, and Ben will teach you how to say, "Die American dog!" in Vietnamese!

Cheers!
