Unfortunately Michael and I have come to the conclusion that the previous campaign model wasn't working. Few regular players, un-even team representation and the need to either combat or repair in the same turn lead to stuttering progress at best.

While reading a Dystopian Wars related blog, I chanced upon the Ironclad Campaign scenarios,

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5yUOt_M-5zMQndPWlZKcTYxOXc/view?pli=1

These scenarios focus more on achieving specific objectives rather than just destroying a certain percentage and size class of the opposing fleet.

As player's fleets are basically reset in-between games, and winning the campaign is based upon scoring Scenario Points rather than points sunk, losing the first or second game does not put a player on a downward spiral from which they cannot recover.

The games are meant to be fun and balanced. Anyone is welcome to play, even just for a pickup game, we have plenty of spare fleets to borrow.

For those taking part in the campaign, I will be recording the details and results. All I need is accurate results from each game and if possible the list players are taking into the game as per the scenario setup.
It will require a certain amount of return information from players in between meetings.

If I have your email address I will send out the campaign primer shortly. If you don't receive it by Monday 23rd November or you are interested in reading the primer, please PM me your name and email address.

Once you do receive it, if you could respond with your fleet choice and any options taken as per the campaign setup rules, that would be much appreciated and will let me know, 1. that you received the email, 2. that you are interested in taking part in the revised campaign.

All feedback is appreciated, good, bad or otherwise.

Hope to see you across the table soon.

regards
Roger

Hi Gents,
Merry Christmas to you all. I was on holiday for the last LoA meet so missed the first round of the rebooted DW campaign. How did the reboot work out? I now have a nice shiny Danish fleet looking for an outing (I have Santa well trained) if anyone's up for a game over the Christmas/new year period. Cheers Guy

Any DW action happening at the meeting on the 17th? Her Brittanic Majesty's navy is looking for a fight.

Hi Martin,
I'll be bringing along my new Danes... they'll be more or less painted by then. I'm not sure what happened with the campaign last time. Are we still using 1000 pt fleets based on the Naval Battlegroup box (which I think was the plan for the first round) or are we using expanded/larger fleets? Happy to fit with whatever works.
Cheers Guy

Hi Guy,

yes, still the 1000 point fleets based on the Naval Starter box set.

There were no campaign games at the December meeting. None of us could make it to LoA for a game.

You'll be running the list we discussed with the two squadrons of 4 Korsors each ?

I would prefer not the Wachters, as they are Lend Lease and not in the Naval Starter Box.

Martin will have his KoB list as submitted. Due to having an older Naval Starter but not a new version, Martin will have a modified list but still in the same spirit as the campaign is designed to be.

Michael has French and I will have FSA (but I'm calling them New Holland)

Barry cant make the club meet. Not sure about Jarrod or Clint.

cheers
Roger

Hi Roger. Battle report - Battle of the Skagarak.

Danish Fleet lead by the Asgard class Heavy Assault Carrier KDM Odin gained victory over the British Fleet (Martin). Final toll was:

Danish Fleet losses:
1 Mk 2 Skagarak sunk ..... 95
2 Mk 1 Skagarak sunk ..... 160
6 Korsors sunk ................ 150
Total ....................... 405
Also 2 Sigurds damaged (don't know if that matters)

Brittanian Fleet loses:
2 Agincourt sunk .............. 180
1 Tribal sunk .................... 75
1 Tribal derelict ................ 75 (I think it's the same as sinking)
1 Tribal prized .................. 150
4 Attackers sunk .............. 120
1 Bastion sunk ................. 20
Total ............................... 620
Also 1 Avenger and 1 Ruler damaged (as above)

Also Danes scored 4 SPs, Brits scored 0 SPs.

Thanks for the game Martin. Thought we'd had a destuctive game til I looked over at the next table!

Guy

Hi Martin,
You semed a bit short on options for ships last time. Let me know if you need to borrow any for next time. I have a squadron of most KOB units - all painted, although probably not to Roger's standards.

Standards ????? I have no standards.

Also I play with unpainted models. Very Happy Who would I be to complain about painting standards. Any paint is better than what I have.

Hi All,

we have at least one more first mission to go in Barry, possibly a second if John comes along.

Is anyone available to be a opponent for Barry ? , possibly having a go at improving your first mission points ?

Martin, did you take any options with your fleet in terms of crew, generator, weapons upgrades / swap outs ?

I've been putting together the results from mission one and some fairly brutal games were had.

I am the only player who has had all their medium ships survive Very Happy
I am also the only player who lost all their large / massive ships Sad

If Michael and I combine all of our remaining ships, we can just make a legal fleet between us Exclamation

details on re-enforcements soon.

for the first post-mission re-inforcements, I'd like to keep it simple, 800 points of your chosen nation, any way you would like to spend them.
Naval, Aerial, Land (?), any combination there of.

Guidelines for all re-enforcements, unless specifically stated otherwise.

No Dreadnoughts.
Maximum of two Large / Massive ships per fleet per game.
Games will be 1,000 points per player.
Options carry over if the ship survives.
Fleet construction rules as per the Spartan Rulebook.
You may purchase just the ships required to bring a squadron back to a legal size, you do no need to purchase the whole squadron again.
Squadrons with Attachments / specialist squadrons as per the ORBAT, can be altered between missions provided that you have the ships available.

You may "trade in" any of your large / massive ships for 75% of their original points back. Note: Ships must be functioning at time of trade in.

These point can be spent any way you desire. If you wish to change the options you've taken on a large / massive ship, this is the mechanism for
doing so.

Hi Roger,
I think Michael and I are the only players to have played the second scenario so far. Do you want me to bring a different fleet along next week to play as a neutral faction against for those playing catch up?

I hope to make the League meeting on Sunday for a Dystopian Wars game, and to pick up my rulebook!

Regards

Hi Guy,

that would be much appreciated if you could run a neutral fleet. Michael is running a neutral Prussian fleet, are you able to run a Britannian fleet ?

Also I have you Spartan order and Martin's rule book.

cheers
Roger

OK, I'll bring along a neutral fleet, but would prefer giving my new Prussians a run out as I haven't tried them yet. I know Michael's bringing Prussians, but we'll be against different opponents, so would assume it wouldn't be a problem.

hi Guy,

I have no issues with you running Prussians, I just remembered you had KoB and I ran KoB as a neutral force recently.
