Tercios are Matilda tanks, just lumber forward and feel the bones crush under your feet.

As of today I have three lists in.

Congratulations to

Lucky, Steve Green and Martin Morgan.

Will need your list by Wednesday next week, otherwise I won't have time to check your lists before the event on Saturday. Rolling Eyes

I love all the references in the lists to the theoretical strength on paper of the tercios, etc. I guess you're being historically accurate thst you don't have the troops (yet) Richard.

So there is pre-set terrain and is it based on real battlefields? This makes a pretty big difference to list selection.

No , see the first post in this rambling thread .

No scenarios , no pre-set terrain , just a limit on period

It's France v Imperialist v Others

Django Upton - Italian Wars French
Nick Wade - Caroline Imperialist
Michael Gray - Later Austrian Imperialists
Ian Poade - Later Austrian Imperialists
Richard (I'm hoping for one win) Stubbs - Hungarian Peasant Revolt
Lyle Daymond - Ming
Richard Gordon - Maximilian Imperials
Tyler Jefferson - Spanish Imperials
Martin Morgan - Safavid Persian
Stephen Green = Italian Wars French
Karsten Zeidler - Italian Wars French
Michael Bornstein - Japanese

Stephen cannot make the first round so I will sit out the first round as well and then play as the bye army in the other rounds. This assumes no more entries.

We have booked for Tivoli to be open at 9.30 both days so we should be able to get underway fairly soon after that both days.

We have

Nice spread of lists.

In the tradition of Germans taking opposing equipment and rebranding it, my Beute-pikes (with all the Imperial Austrian flags the commanders will be waving) look forward to taking to the field.

A quick results list

Michael Gray 72 (1st Place)
Ian Poade 59 (2nd Place)
Martin Morgan 58 (3rd Place)
Django Upton 49 (most sporting player)
Tyler Jefferson 41
Stephen Green 33 (3 games)
Karsten Zeidler 32
Richard Stubbs 31 (should have taken Japanese)
Richard Gordon 30 (3 games)
Michael Bornstein 40 (2 games)
Nick Wade 27 (2 games
Lyle Daymond 10

A fuller report will be in the Argus if I get the chance to write it.

Next back to ECW.TYW periods (to 1660)

Possibly with scenarios (depending on whether they get written.

Well played Michael Gray congrats!

However, as much as I like FOGR, which is one of my favourite rules systems, when I look at Michael's army and how it is run, I feel that it has pretty much no resemblance to any historical army I can think of, much less one in this period. I find it disappointing when rules that have a decent historical feel are gradually eroded under tournament pressure to find the best gamey combination (see FOG:AM, DBM, etc.) I discovered a new cheesy move too - charge routed units because it gives you a double move... FFS... Rolling Eyes

Michael has pointed out that I have his final score incorrect.

It was actually 79 and not 72.
