@Mark

We'll definitely be using the simplified torpedo rules if we use torpedoes.

We'll see how we go. I'd like to keep the torpedo rules in simply because they exercised such a hold over thinking. The whole reason the High Seas Fleet go away was because of the torpedo run done by its destroyers which made Jellicoe turn away instead of pursuing.

Definitely Noah, my concern was mainly about nonsensical long range torpedoes and markers cluttering the table.

It looks as though I will be out for the June LoA meeting due to a family commitment my wife kindly volunteered us for. But if I can make part of the day I will.

cheers

Scratch that last post. I am in fact okay for the June LoA if we are going to try another practice run. Sadly my problem is on Sunday the 17th July. I will have to leave the LoA by 1.30pm that day. Conversely, as the 16th (Saturday) is the first day of the FoGN tournament, we could run Jutland on the 16th July and I could play all day.

How would that suit you chaps?

cheers

Kind of an update for both you Mark and generally.

Andrew has forwarded this to his contacts in wargaming Melbourne and a gentleman out at Berwick has kindly offered to run the game in his private wargaming area. Before I accept his offer it seems only fair that I let you gentlemen know.

Would such an arrangement (I haven't set a date as yet, I wanted to check how you people felt) be acceptable? If not, I shall run a seperate game for everyone from LoA (be it Jutland or something smaller such as Dogger Bank or the Bight) and then the full shabang (depending on numbers) out at Berwick.

I am envisioning a date Late June-Early July, but will need to consult further with Andrew and the Gentleman in question.

What are everyone's thoughts on the matter?

That's no gentleman, that's Peter Rosetti who is blessed with God's own wargames room... great venue! Wink

We are moving house in late June and so early July would work for me...

cheers

Splendid!

Mark, I'm afraid I've just slated June 25 as the date. Fool that I am I messaged Andrew (who's my contact with the aforementioned Peter) to let everyone else know of the date before noticing what was happening here.

I'll see what I can do to get the both of you into the mailing list...

That is the week I move, and as I am rather attached to my marriage I will definitely not be off wargaming that week.... But if that works for you and everyone else, no problems!

cheers

June 25 is a Saturday and not great with kids sport [and Little Big Horn Day]
And July LOA is FOGN

@Mark
Still waiting on aforementioned gentleman's confirmation that that date is alright, so there may still be hope for you.

@m.gray
I've been undecided with this month every since I originally posted. Whilst the date is fine, whether others wanted 2-3 months of continuous Jutland was something I wasn't so sure of. If you and Mark can't come on that date then I'll motion that I'll run a battle, probably the battle of the Bight in 1914, in June. Much smaller and I'll have a look see at the order of battles to see if destroyers maybe dispensed with...

No Michael, I believe that Noah is organishng the main game on Saturday 25th out at Peter Rosetti's in Berwick at 1.00pm. As previously advised, that leaves me out.

cheers

Following the success of 2 Saturdays previously I have chosen to cancel any further Jutland games at the league.

I've thought long and hard about ways to get the game to work at the league, but as it stands I don't think we could have a remotely Jutlandy experience with the room or the number of players available. No hack at the league intended of course, Naval Wargaming is simply huge!

We had an excellent game with 16 players out at Peter Rosetti's on the 25th. Once we had the rules explained and people began to get comfortable it went brilliantly and there have been calls for a round 2 which is likely to take place in November. m.gray, if you'd like to PM me your email address I can add you to the email discussion regarding that.

My thanks to Mark and Andrew for suffering through the first game I ran back in March, it really help crystallise a number of things in my mind and without it more than likely the 25th would have been something of a disaster.
