Having only one ancients competition each year leaves plenty of time to plan for the next one. Has any discussion occurred regarding 2018? I'm wondering what folk out there would like to see. Could an open theme be on the cards or maybe a return to classical era? Or even biblical?
It might seem too soon but planning nine months for an event that I don't end up attending is one of my main wargaming past-times. |

In a discussion with all the players at the end of this year's tournament, we tentatively settled on 2018's theme being the first two or three sections of the ADLG lists. So Ancient, Classical, and perhaps Roman as well.
(Note that 'Classical' includes Rome up to the end of the republic, so even if we restrict it to the first two rather than three books, there will still be some legions.)

With a good number of new players taking up ADLG recently, I definitely agree it's good to give everyone time to paint new armies ahead of next year's comp! |

Thanks for that response, Tyler. That gives me a few things to think about.
The first two books present some interesting choices. Including the Roman era as well would probably make it less restrictive but might just coax a few extra attendees. |
