Details will be in the next Argus and fliers at the next club meeting, but basically Lionheart will be 750 points, armies chosen from any book but limited to 1000-1500AD, while the Doubles (entitled Chariots of Fire) will be 900 points from Swifter than Eagles. In the Doubles there will be 4 compulsory generals and each player must control 2 generals and at least 40% of the battle groups.

Personally I'm looking forward to the armies from Decline and Fall and Wolves from the Sea appearing at Lionheart (something with Vikings or Anglo-Danes will be my pick).

Lyle

PS. Early indications of armies and banter are encouraged!

My preliminary idea is Catalan conspiracy for Lionheart, although bringing back to only 750 points from 800 will change the balance a bit.

Also I expect that I will be going to watch St Kilda v Geelong on SUnday afternoon, unless of ourse I am winning (fat chance).

No idea what Django has in mind for the Doubles tournament as he has tp provide the army.

Cheers

Michael

I have Babylonians and Trojans and no book to determine what extra figures, painting and/or rebasing may be required...

I'm hoping to have New Kingdom Egyptians for 'Chariots of Fire'. Was thinking it might be 1000 points, so I suppose that's less painting and basing before then.... Smile

Why 750??!?!

Still, excellent chance to get out the Normans for Lionheart.

As for the other, I'm torn between Liddell and Abrahams...

When are lists due for Lionheart?

And I doubt anything will appear from WftS - undrilled foot armies are going to struggle in an open comp!

Germanic knights for me!

I'll likely trundle out my Byzantines once more for a drubbing...

When are we going to have a nice Dark-ages tourney so I can play against same era forces? Rolling Eyes

Cheers Wink

Doubt not that Wolves from the Sea will be represented! Look forward to meeting and defeating Harold Godwinson and the Anglo-Danes!!

Points were trimmed from last year's events as 800AP singles and 1000AP doubles armies did appear bigger than their 400/500AP DBM equivalents. We'll assess things after the tournament and if people think the difference was marginal at best then we'll consider something else or going back to the standard.

We did consider spliting the competition into Dark Ages/Medieval sections, but in the end decided to have one competition. We could always consider a split or alternating the theme, but Lionheart has been a fairly stable, single competition with all medieval options in the past.

As usual all opinions are welcome, even the ones we don't act on Laughing

Lyle,

I am keen to play both tournaments, but will be looking for lead support for both. Even if my Lombards were ready, they're the Early sort so don't fit either period.

Also, like Michael, I'll be at the Saints game on the 5th July.

Hi Paul,

Not sure how or when these things are normally worked out, but I'm planning on running a New Kingdom Egyptian army for the August doubles and will be looking for a partner, if you or anyone else wants to give NK Egyptians a bash and dont have a better offer. Embarassed

Am working on various troop options at the moment and trying to get enough of them painted to have some practice runs beforehand to try and avoid getting completely obliterated in August. Confused

Anyway, just thought Id mention it.

Mark.

Paul,

I can probably loan you some medieval lead for Lionheart, I can do longbow based armies or generic western european, maybe even eastern european types depending on what you actually want.

Others can probably help as well.

Figures have been counted and army determined... it might look like a load of bull but it'll have the golden touch.

Mark,

That sounds pretty good - you're on. Thanks for the offer.

Lyle, Richard, I'm changing jobs in mid-June, and I may struggle to make Lionheart, but I'll be on for the doubles in August. July 19 is probably the next meeting date I'll be able to make. But I'll know sooner to the start of July.
