Nice job, Tristan. I see some of your lot are Peter Pig. My whole army is. I like the figures. Sorry, my camera is not up to task.

My method. Spray black undercoat. Block colour. Brown wash on earth tones and flesh, thin black wash on armour and on primary colours. Pick out highlights to taste - including silks and armour bands (I often just use the original block colours as the highlight colours). The amour starts as a mid grey, same as Tristan's.

My job is easier than yours as most of my lads are peasants. The armour they do have is pretty muted. Hope you can find some inspiration, Richard

Has anyone noticed the new Ronin rules from Osprey? I do have a set and they look a fun skirmish game. Might be a way to start with a few figures.

Yup ,
Ara and Steve and I are all planning games .
FYI I still wouold like to do a Japanese campaign but with 2 others at the Club running it seems a bit crowded .
I'm thinking of a mapless campaign at this stage , less you are trying to be Shogun and more you are trying to control a province .
28mm skirmish would be apart of it I reckon

Had a game of Ronin just the other week and really enjoyed it. Geoff, if you or anybody else would be interested in a game I would be happy to give the Ikko-Ikki buntai another run.

Are there rules for Portuguese? I have 20 or so very nice Eureka swordsmen and arquebusiers to paint.

Of course I have a large pile of unpainted Perry Samurai as well Wink

The only lists for 'foreign' forces in the rules are Koreans and Chinese. These cover the Japanese invasion of Korea which occurred within the timeframe of the book.

Bruce, I feel for you with the Perries. They are very intricate models but I think they are worth the effort.

I have the rules and some models on the way, which should be ready soon thanks to the nice compact army lists.

I will probably bring my Japanese models to the next club meeting. Steve, if you are interested, I can field enough models for a buntai of monks as well as ikko-ikki.

Hey Jared

Sounds good - morning or afternoon? I should have 100 pts of my own ready to go by then but I'll keep you posted.

Cheers

Steve, I'd be happy to play a game in the morning. I'm usually at the Tiv by 10. One great aspect of Ronin is just how few models are needed for a 100 point game. Good luck with your models.
