Has anyone seen these new rules up close. Thoughts?
One review I read suggested a blend of 40K and Warmaster mechanics. I haven’t played either game so don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing.
I see that there will be a Bolt Action comp at Cancon. I have gone off Flames a bit lately and am wondering if this might be the thing to get me enthused about WWII gaming again.
cheers
Bruce

Nic Robson at Eureka has a preview copy.

I didn't look too closely last time I was down there as the scale doesn't interest me that much.

From what I can tell, you have either a squad or platoon at most.
Maybe one or two vehicles if you are lucky, but then I could be wrong!!

Thanks Richard, I see it’s sold out already. Not too bothered by the different scale. I thought I could try it in 15mm first and go shopping if it plays okay. I have long had in my mind a Fallschirmjäger v US Para encounter on a bocage table as a discrete 28mm project.

Has anyone played a game of this yet? I picked up the rules and they look fun. I was thinking of getting some British Commandos and maybe Panzergrens as 2 opposing forces to start with that fit easily within the basic core lists in the rule book.

If it's good, then once army lists come out, I'd really like to do LRDG in Nth Africa raidng various DAK forces. FoW seemed hopeless for these 'hit and run' actions, based on what various forums were saying, and I'm hoping these rules will give a good system for this type of fighting.

Cheers, Mark.

Haven't played yet, but I have a copy of the rules and they look good. Mark, will you paint the Commandos or PZGrens first. Let me know which and I'll get an opposing platoon under way.

cheers

My copy arrived on Wednesday.

I have Germans [Grenadiers or Fallschirmjaegers, but am yet to paint up the Hanomags for Panzer-Grenadiers], Early War British and Russian Naval Brigade. But I have not yet crunched through the lists to see just what forces I could make up at their suggetsed 1,000 pts.

cheers

I'm currently painting Commandos, after putting together a box of the plastic figures. Fiddly little bastards Evil or Very Mad

Hoping to put in an order with War and Peace games soon (today if I'm lucky) to get mortar, HMG, flamethrower and maybe a couple of universal carriers.

The infantry aren't too tricky to paint up, so if I get them in time, hoping to maybe have enough done for October, if you want to try a couple of games out of 500 - 750 points or something. Haven't done the maths on forces yet.

Cheers, Mark.

Germans it is then. I just put in an order for a full Heer platoon plus heavy weapon support and a Hetzer (couldn’t resist armour). I am overseas for most of Oct so will not be painting or playing but I should be up for a game from around mid Nov. I will PM you when I get back.

cheers

The rules look very nice on my first reading. The number of figures involved is also not oppressive. A versatile 1,000 point force of a regular reinforced platoon will require about 30-40 figures, 1 tank, 1 or 2 heavy support weapons such as an HMG or AT gun or Mortar and 1 Armoured Car and/or 1 HalfTrack.

That is not a huge investment me thinks...

cheers

Yes, it has begun. I have only just read the rules, have not yet had or even seen a game, my reinforced platoon is still in the mail - and I am already planning my second force. Wargamer OCD.

Given that I ordered my Artisan 28mm WWII Aussies this morning before Richard's last post means that I can say...... oh who am I kidding?

cheers
